Whether you’re rich or poor, a student or in full-time employment, millennial or Gen Z, this post is for you. Maybe you want to make some extra money, maybe you need something to make your life a little bit less routine, or maybe you’re trying to kick-start a new career in something you’re more passionate about. Either way, let’s introduce “the side hustle”. Knowing as many entrepreneurs as we do, we’ve had a think to give you some ideas that you can get started with today.
The millennial’s favourite side hustle; and perhaps the “easiest” way of creating content. We all know that blogger/YouTuber that blew up overnight. You can literally write or video yourself talking about anything. Whether it’s social justice, fitness or playing video games you have a platform to speak your mind. If what you’re talking about truly informs, inspires or resonates with people i.e. brings value, you could build a platform that will change your life.
However, this type of content creation is easier said than done. You need to be consistent, passionate and above all hard-working. With that in mind, find a niche that you actually know or care about as people will only pay attention if you add value.
The obvious platforms to start blogging/vlogging are on a website and YouTube respectively, as well as recreating this content on social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. Below are some good resources to check if you want to learn how to become a successful blogger.

We’ve also added some noteworthy examples of content creators that grew a following from nothing:
2) Reselling Goods:
A hustle that’s been going on since the beginning of time. Buy something of value, and then sell it for more. If you have patience, and you know your market well, you can make a lot of money. You could buy shoes from China in bulk at a discount, and then sell them individually to people at a profit who aren’t willing to search for a better deal.
As with everything, the trick is consistency – but if you’re willing, watch your money grow even from the comfort of your own home.
Here’s some advice on how to start a profitable eBay business.
3) Babysitting/dog sitting:
Didn’t think dog sitting would be on this list? Neither did we. But for the people who like children, animals, looking after things they don’t own – this could be a really easy way to make money. All those things you used to do for free you can get paid for!
4) Learning to code:
Technology is obviously our future and everyone wants to build an app now. If you’re the person who can make someone’s dreams come, you will be definitely be in demand. There’s a huge number of different coding languages obviously so you’d best focus on the one that’s most right for you.

5) Start Tutoring:
Tutors are well paid, they help kids, teach what they’re good at and aren’t forced into a 9-5 – if that sounds good to you get started. In fact, you can join us here!
But in all seriousness, as a career or side hustle it offers a lot of things people often look for in jobs.
Flexibility – you decide your hours; instant impact – as it’s typically one-on-one, you can see the difference you’re making in your student’s life; personal development – as a full-time communicator, you’re forced to work on this essential skill in many different ways.
If you have talents that you feel are being wasted in secret, you can make money on Fiverr. You can buy and sell literally anything: logos & design, programming, voice overs, software engineers, relationship advice… Anything.
7) Build your own Store/Product:
Now if you want to go the extra mile and combine everything suggested above why not build the next Amazon. Great product, great website, great idea, let’s get to it! This is obviously one of the more potentially lucrative and sustainable side hustles. However, it’s true entrepreneurship and not for the faint-hearted. It involves recruitment, marketing, sales, processes, testing, failures and a host of things you didn’t even know existed. The flip side though is that it could be your own major success story.
There’s no definitive guide to making this type of thing a success, but here are some guides to help…
Examples: Amazon, Ebay, Alibaba, AirBnB, you name it…
8) Learn to trade/invest:
Most people who tell you trading can help you get rich quick are probably lying – think DCT, ACN, etc (if you know you know). However, if you’re patient and willing to learn how to trade properly then you can definitely make a lot of money. You could be at home funding whatever lifestyle you wish to live if you know what you’re doing. However, you need to be clued up on what stocks you’re interested in so be careful, research and don’t take unsolicited advice. You don’t want to be victim of the next cryptocurrency scam…
9) Sell Ebooks:
If you have knowledge, then sell it. It’s easier than ever to become an author of literally anything you feel comfortable writing. If it’s good, people will buy. Even if it’s not good, if they trust you, people will buy.
10) Start a Podcast:
Like vlogging, it’s a cool way to build a brand that seems to be growing exponentially at the moment. In particular, people who like the idea of a relaxed conversation about a topic they’re interested in, without being on camera should think about starting one. Furthermore, because of how relaxed it is, it’s easier to edit without the pressure of having to be super concise. For example, I’d much rather listen to a two hour football podcast to and from work, than to spend two hours on YouTube waiting for them to get to the point.
